In 2024, we took over the guesthouse Drahteselböck and transformed it into DAS ESEL with lots of love, creativity, and passion. The new name is a tribute to the Baroque donkeys of Burgenland and our own fascination with these unique animals.

The hotel “Das Esel” is located at Dorfmeistergasse 21, 7071 Rust, in a quiet area – just a 10-minute walk from the town center. Its proximity to the popular Family Park and its direct location on the cycling routes through the Neusiedler See National Park make the hotel ideal for active holidays and family stays.
Der Familypark in St. Margarethen ist vom Das ESEL nur wenige Autominuten entfernt. Ihr könnt euren Parkbesuch mit einer Übernachtung in Rust verbinden oder eines unserer Familypark-Packages mit Eintritt buchen.
Ihr könnt zwischen Einzelzimmern, Doppelzimmern, Familienzimmern und unserem besonders geräumigen Doppelzimmer Plus wählen. Für gemeinsam Reisende gibt es außerdem ein Doppel- und ein Einzelzimmer mit Verbindungstür. Ob zu zweit, allein oder mit Kindern – wir helfen euch gerne, das passende Zimmer zu finden.

Ja, auch externe Gäste sind bei unserem Frühstücksbuffet willkommen. Der Preis beträgt 28,00 € pro Person. Bitte meldet euch vorab an. Wenn unser Haus voll belegt ist, können wir leider nicht jede Frühstücksreservierung annehmen – danke für euer Verständnis.
Für einen besonderen Abend empfehlen wir das Freistein oder das Hofgassl. Exzellente Hausmannskost gibt es beim Kirchenwirt; für Wein und eine gemütliche Jause mögen wir die Buschenschanken Gabriel und Peter Schandl. Wenn ihr am Wasser sitzen möchtet, schaut beim Niki am Hafen oder Tesla am See vorbei.
Für einen besonderen Abend empfehlen wir den Taubenkobel oder die Greisslerei beim Taubenkobel in Schützen am Gebirge. Direkt am Wasser liegt die Seejungfrau in Jois; in Donnerskirchen lohnt sich das Zum Gogosch. Für Wein und gutes Essen mögen wir außerdem das Robitza in Eisenstadt und Mariell in Großhöflein. Besonders familienfreundlich finden wir den Oleander in Trausdorf mit seiner abwechslungsreichen Speisekarte.

In Rust and the surrounding area, such as Mörbisch, there are various rental options. Modern e-bikes can be rented directly at Hotel Das Esel in cooperation with partner provider Migschitz. Reservations can be conveniently made at the reception. A special offer: e-bikes can also be booked in combination with a picnic package – ideal for relaxed tours through vineyards, along Lake Neusiedl, or to idyllic spots in nature.
Ja, für die Herbstferien bieten wir Halloween-Packages mit einer oder zwei Übernachtungen im Das ESEL und einem Tageseintritt in den Familypark an. Das Halloween-Hauptevent findet 2026 vom 23. Oktober bis 1. November statt. Die verfügbaren Reisetermine findet ihr bei unseren Packages.
Bis 14 Tage vor eurer Anreise könnt ihr kostenfrei stornieren. Bei einer späteren Stornierung verrechnen wir 100 % des Buchungspreises. Wir empfehlen euch, für unvorhergesehene Fälle eine Reiseversicherung abzuschließen.
